Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop on April 5
Are you a new coach and want to be known as one of  the those coaches that strives to win and works to prepare his/her team to play at its highest level and at the same time, teaches life lessons (teamwork, dedication, bouncing back from mistakes) to his/her players?  Then you need to attend the April 5 PCA Workshop Double-Goal Coach:  "Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons" hosted by Loudoun Soccer.  This 2 hour workshop (designed for coaches U6 through U8 BUT everyone is welcome) will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Mill ES in Leesburg.  RSVP to margie@loudounsoccer.com if you plan on attending.
Positive Coaching Alliance

Loudoun Soccer partners with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to create an organizational culture of which we can all be proud.  PCA is a non-profit organization based at Stanford University whose mission is "To transform youth sports so sports transform youth."

PCA’s Goals are:

  • Replace the win at all-cost model of coaching with the Double Goal Coach who strives to win but has a second, more important, goal of using sports to teach life lessons.
  • Teach Youth Sports Organizations leaders how to create an organizational culture in which Honoring the Game is the norm
  • Spark and fuel a "social epidemic" of Positive Coaching that will sweep this country and beyond.

Positive coaching can increase an athlete's self-esteem and self-confidence, which results in more enjoyment from participating and causes an athlete to be more likely to continue playing. Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) believes the realm of youth athletics presents a tremendous opportunity for players to develop life skills that will serve them well beyond the playing field.

Loudoun Soccer has taken numerous initiatives to establish an environment that our community appreciates, understands and supports. Coaches, staff, volunteers and parents attend Positive Coaching workshops scheduled throughout the year to help in this endeavor. These sessions enable everyone to understand PCA objectives so they can help all our players build character and to make the experience a more successful one for coaches, parents, fans and officials.

No matter how many excellent coaches we already have, it requires getting all constituents in our league on the same page. The Loudoun Soccer-PCA Partnership program is a vehicle to help fuel this positive culture.   The program will help us create the quality soccer program we all desire, and provide every one of our players with a positive learning experience, while giving leaders, coaches and parents the tools and training needed to play an active role in "Honoring the Game".
